As someone with acne-prone skin, I can’t imagine my skincare routine without vitamin C. First, it helps protect my skin from free radical damage. And two, it’s one of the few dermatologist-approved ingredients that doesn’t break out and helps fade my hyperpigmentation scars. But as transformative as this ingredient was for my beauty regimen, it was difficult to find a solution that was both economical and effective. That is, until I discovered Olay Vitamin C + Peptide 24 Serum ($30).

Although I have been testing the serum for just under three weeks, it has been a complete game-changer for balancing out my skin tone. A lot of that has to do with the serum’s stacked formula, which features a potent blend of Vitamin C (for luminosity), Vitamin B3 (for hydration), and Lactic Acid (for increased cell turnover). Moreover, it contains peptideswho are amino acids that help stimulate collagen production so your skin looks plumper, smoother and firmer.

The serum was discontinued last year along with the rest of Olay’s new Vitamin C + Peptide 24 collection, which also includes moisturizer, eye cream and cleanser if you want to try a new routine of just one. kick.

Among the first things I noticed was the texture of the serum. While most serums are super smooth and oily in nature, this one felt more like a diluted moisturizer. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still thin and easily penetrates your skin. But like a good water-based moisturizer, it leaves your skin dewy and supple afterwards, rather than oily. Plus, the formula is quite lightweight, so you don’t have to worry about it clogging your pores.

For the past few weeks I have used the serum at night followed by my moisturizer. I was really hoping to see an improvement around my cheeks where I have a few dark spots – and that’s exactly what I got. Granted, the improvement was pretty subtle (so far), but a win is still a win in my book. Also, it didn’t cause a rash or irritate my skin. Just be aware that the formula has a fairly mild citrus scent, which is something to keep in mind if you have sensitive skin or are prone to irritation.

Overall, the formula is super hydrating and gives your skin a radiant glow. So if you’re looking to introduce vitamin C into your skincare regimen without breaking the bank, this is the one to add to the cart.
